ABC News Medical Unit

Learning the craft of journalisim admidst a pandemic

An Internship at a Time Like No Other

The Medical Unit at ABC News vets and provides medical content across platforms, including Good Morning America, World News with David Muir, Nightline, 20/20, local affiliates, radio, and ABCNews.com Residents and Fellows serve a critical role in the ABC News Medical Unit to ensure credible medical information is presented across all platforms. I had continued to focus on stories particularly focused on Geriatric Medicine, Oncology and Palliative Care yet I also covered a large breadth of medical news based on breaking developments from yet to be published medical journal articles as well of coverage of major medical meetings. It was great working on routine medical news but it was amazing to be able to contribute to the network during the COVID-19 Pandemic. I had worked with an incredible team of dedicated professionals including emmy award winning producer Eric Strauss and Dr. Jennifer Ashton

I continue to be a part of ongoing team coverage of breaking news regarding COVID-19 Pandemic. I am also a scheduled weekly contributor to overnight broadcast World News Now and on standby overnight for breaking news

ABC News pioneered Brodacst Medical Journalism with Dr. Timothy Johnson who began repoting on medical topics for Good Morning America in the 1970's. I credit my meeting with Dr. Johnson that truly introduced me to this important field
